Been a year 
Or a week 
Since I saw you last 
I’ve been home 
All day long 
Not a word from you
Mid-winter nights are here again
A magical time of year  

I dream of you a winter’s night 
When all the streets are closed
I’ve been up since 5 am 
Up here waiting for a ghost 

I still see
Your green eyes 
Right behind the tree
When I go  
Back to sleep 
It will just be me 
The neighbours are coming home next door 
Like we did the year before
