The Summer of my Life

Summer 2019 was very special for me as it was the summer I completed my bachelor studies and I got to travel solo for the first time in my life. I travelled by plane alone for the first time as well and got to visit my internet friend – Camilla, in Norway, which became my dream city. Even though I spent only three days there, it was THE summer of my life as it changed a lot of things for me, especially in the way of living alone with myself and getting out of my comfort zone.

They came, they saw, they conquered…

Tonight we were once again treated to a really funny, entertaining and at times… risqué show from Stuart, Tom, Sean & Co. – aka the great panel for the second night of the 2021 ESC FAN TV Awards! Excitement and passions ran high, friendly insults abounded again between the high-spirited panel members, and the chat room was going nuts, to the point that co-host Tom Hughes was unable to keep up!

The reason why I became so passionate about them, and eventually starting following them on Instagram, and listen to their music on Spotify was because I, like them, share a very similar story of always being told, as a child in school, that I was not good enough because I was different from the rest of my friends. So when “Spirit in the Sky” was released, I was overjoyed because not only are Alexandra and Tom the greatest vocalists of all time, but Fred and his joiking was a welcoming bonus! I knew about Fred previously from listening to his Sámi rap group, Duolva Duottar!

Like many fans, my first taste of KEiiNO came at the Norsk Melodi Grand Prix final in 2019. I was live-blogging the event for Eurovision Ireland (www.eurovisionireland.net) and despite having heard the hype around Spirit in the Sky, I’d deliberately avoided listening to any of the songs in the selection so that my reactions to MGP were genuine first impressions.

Adult Fandom of KEiiNO – Diana Oakes

I discovered KEiiNO on You Tube and the Spirit in the Sky video wasn’t actually the first thing I saw. I have family in Norway so have always been interested in Norway’s performances at the Eurovision. In 2019, I was searching online to see who would represent KEiiNO and came across the name of KEiiNO then on YouTube the first thing I saw was their vlog from the Sámi kindergarten, which was, coincidentally, filmed on my birthday!

Adult Fandom of KEiiNO – Virginia Kok

It was May 18 2019, the evening of the ESC final. My husband had to go early to bed because of his work and I was trying not to make a lot of noise. But then KEiiNO appeared on the screen with “Spirit in The Sky”. The volume was increased. I was sitting there, staring at the screen, it felt like I was in the audience and was cheering to “Spirit in The Sky”.

KEiiNO – Monument Review
By Benjamin Willcock

I was first introduced to KEiiNO the same way most of us were, during the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest. Their entry, Spirit in the Sky, was a bold, thunderous pop masterpiece that effortlessly blended classic pop tropes with spiritual lyricism. It was definitely one of the standouts that year, if not the most distinctive and memorable overall. It’s no wonder then that it won the public tele-vote with an astounding number of votes.

Review of KEiiNO's new single, Monument, by Even Ormbostad, Norway.

Review by Even Ormbostad, Norway

After hearing “Monument” repeatedly before I finally managed to sleep, I woke up again early today, still with a sense of enthusiasm and joy after the night’s release.

After brewing coffee, filling it on the thermos and putting the egg in the pot, I sat down on the sofa with my coffee cup and turned on my laptop. I went to Youtube and put on the new KEiiNO song again.
