Like many fans, my first taste of KEiiNO came at the Norsk Melodi Grand Prix final in 2019. I was live-blogging the event for Eurovision Ireland (www.eurovisionireland.net) and despite having heard the hype around Spirit in the Sky, I’d deliberately avoided listening to any of the songs in the selection so that my reactions to MGP were genuine first impressions.Continue reading
NRK’s Summeropen on Alta Beach Camping was great PR for the city and Finnmark. Amongst the guests, Tuesday was the band KEiiNO and Trine Lise Olsen. Alexandra Rotan from the MGP-band warmed up both attending audience and TV viewers with her warm words about cold Alta.Continue reading
I discovered KEiiNO on You Tube and the Spirit in the Sky video wasn’t actually the first thing I saw. I have family in Norway so have always been interested in Norway’s performances at the Eurovision. In 2019, I was searching online to see who would represent KEiiNO and came across the name of KEiiNO then on YouTube the first thing I saw was their vlog from the Sámi kindergarten, which was, coincidentally, filmed on my birthday!Continue reading
It was May 18 2019, the evening of the ESC final. My husband had to go early to bed because of his work and I was trying not to make a lot of noise. But then KEiiNO appeared on the screen with “Spirit in The Sky”. The volume was increased. I was sitting there, staring at the screen, it felt like I was in the audience and was cheering to “Spirit in The Sky”.Continue reading
Like so many others, I discovered KEiiNO in the Eurovision in Tel Aviv in 2019. Their music instantly ignited a flame inside me and made me want more. At that point I was most of the time in bed because of severe illness, so I spent a lot of time on my phone, reading articles and interviews about KEiiNO and the individual members, and the more I read, the more I felt alive. They all had stories of their own struggles to tell, and somehow reading all this while listening to “Spirit in the sky” and “Shallow”, which at that point were their only two songs, I came back to ‘life’ and after some months, where things really started to improve, I felt an urge to give them something somehow.Continue reading
The first time I heard KEiiNO was when they were presented as participants in Melodi Grand Prix in 2019. (Melodi Grand Prix is the national selection in Norway). The catchy song, “Spirit in the sky” made a strong impression right away, for one (me) who has a big heart for great pop music.Continue reading
Tom, Alexandra and Fred and the rest of your gang, CONGRATULATIONS, with the huge success you have had already with Monument. The social media have been absolutely buzzing since we received the news.Continue reading
Already after the final in 2019, Alexandra Rotan and the others in KEiiNO knew that they were not done with Melodi Grand Prix (Norway’s national selection for ESC/red.) They wanted to try again, they just didn’t know when.Continue reading
One can almost feel the need for revenge in the studio now, because our three next guests…, almost won the ESC in 2019, after receiving the most public votes.
But they ended up in 6th place, so here are three people who can hardly wait for the MGP (ESC) to start again. We shall not talk a lot about what happened in 2019, but we have to go there as well of course. Welcome, Tom Hugo, Alexandra and Fred, you look so happy! How long have you waited for this week?
May 18th 2019: In Denmark, Karina Brandt lies worn out and sick in front of the TV. Then KEiiNO enters the stage in Tel Aviv. This evening her life changes.

KEiiNO won the Melodi Grand Prix in 2019 and received the most audience votes in Eurovision. Now they are back with a song they think could take them all the way to the top in Europe.
