KEiiNO’s new Melodi Grand Prix contribution “Monument” seems to strike a chord with the audience – and the band breathes a sigh of relief.

– We are incredibly pleased with the feedback on “Monument”. We were a little nervous before we released the song since we know that “Spirit in the Sky” has a big place in people’s hearts, says Tom Hugo on behalf of the trio.
KEiiNO is pre-qualified for the big final in February and showed off “Monument” in the first semi-final last Saturday.

At the time of writing, it has 350,000 plays on Spotify, is in first place on iTunes in Norway and has been on the charts in Sweden, Denmark, UK and Israel. The lyric video and performance are at # 5 and # 7 on YouTube, we are at # 25 on Spotify top 50 and # 12 on Apple Music, says Tom Hugo, and states to NTB:

– These are much better numbers than we had on “Spirit in the sky”, and show that “Monument” has a large audience already. So now we are working hard to refine the show until February 20, so that we can convince the audience that we are best suited to represent Norway in Rotterdam in May.

On YouTube, the official text video for “Monument” has received 165,000 views in five days, while the NRK broadcast, posted a day later, is up to 166,000 views.

In the comments section, fans from all over Europe cheer on the trio’s new MGP contribution. Many call it their favourite and ask Norway to make sure to send Keiino again to the final.

A fan has even made sure to translate Fred Buljo’s Sami rap and joik in the song into English.

Alexandra Rotan thinks it’s fun that people are so happy to see KEiiNO back.

– All the comments we get from abroad show that all the work we put in to travel around Europe to promote seems to be bearing fruit.
